AppLovin was the biggest winner in August, boasting two SDKs that grew their market share month-over-month. While a few other SDKs (ironSource, Pangle, TopOn, Soomla, ByteBrew, Stripe, and Razorpay) had similar success, overall installs were generally down from July’s totals.

Ad Network SDKs: AppLovin MAX was August’s biggest winner
To kick things off, let’s look at where things stand among the top Ad Network SDKs. Google Ads AdMob remains the top option here, with 1,658,309 iOS and Android installations.
However, this number is actually down from the SDK’s July total of 1,670,581 app installs.
Indeed, installations are down almost across the board, with just AppLovin MAX (the biggest gainer for the month of August), ironSource, and Pangle bucking the trend. Check it out, here’s the rest of the list:

- Unity Ads: 423,581 installations (July: 430,543)
- AppLovin MAX: 274,424 installations (July: 272,636)
- Start.io Startapp: 194,073 installations (July: 204,333)
- ironSource: 176,547 installations (July: 176,213)
- AdColony: 145,548 installations (July: 150,177)
- Vungle: 93,866 installations (July: 94,565)
- Pangle ByteDance TikTok UnionAD: 81,563 installations (July: 81,202)
- Chartboost: 72,143 installations (July: 74,813)
Ad Mediation SDKs: AppLovin was one of two gainers for the month of August
Google’s dominance extends to ad mediation as well. While the AdMob offering tops the field among ad networks, the Google Ads AdMob Mediation Adapters SDK leads the way among ad mediation solutions. It’s installed on 1,533,014 iOS and Android apps, which, while less than July’s total of 1,544,933, is nevertheless roughly six times the number of installs for the next closest SDK.
In addition, just like the ad network SDKs, the August totals for these tools were largely lower than their July totals. AppLovin Mediation Adapters and TopOn Mediation were the only exceptions. Check it out, here’s the rest of the list:

- ironSource Mediation Adapters: 156,754 installations (July: 156,831)
- Chartboost: 72,143 installations (July: 74,813)
- InMobi Mobile Ads: 62,866 installations (July: 63,308)
- DT Exchange by Digital Turbine: 37,961 installations (July: 38,370)
- Appodeal: 16,972 installations (July: 18,686)
- Criteo Publisher: 16,862 installations (July: 18,286)
- MoPub Mediation Adapters: 12,892 installations (July: 14,329)
- TopOn Mediation: 5,728 installations (July: 5,588)
Attribution SDKs: Just Soomla and ByteBrew improved upon their July numbers
Moving on, let’s look at the top attribution SDKs. Here, AppsFlyer takes the top spot. It’s installed on 125,507 total iOS and Android apps, down a hair from July’s total of 125,531. While this number gives AppsFlyer a healthy lead, competition for the next spot is a little stiffer. In addition, just Soomla and ByteBrew improved upon their July numbers.

- Adjust: 76,586 installations (July: 77,916)
- Branch - Tune: 69,732 installations (July: 70,490)
- myTracker: 18,384 installations (July: 20,429)
- Tenjin: 12,394 installations (July: 12,931)
- Kochava Tracker Free App Analytics: 7,338 installations (July: 7,458)
- Singular: 6,178 installations (July: 6,400)
- Tune - HasOffers: 3,550 installations (July: 3,738)
- Soomla Traceback Ad Quality by ironSource: 3,481 installations (July: 3,289)
- ByteBrew: 1,330 installations (July: 1,165)
Payment and Commerce SDKs: Stripe and Razorpay were growth leaders in August
To close, let’s look at the top Payments and Commerce SDKs. Apple StoreKit In-App Purchases leads the way with 930,749 total installations. This number is down considerably from July, when the SDK was installed on 932,233. However, the only gainers among these Payments and Commerce SDKs were Stripe and Razorpay.

- Google Pay In-app billing: 167,636 installations (July: 171,845)
- Stripe: 141,527 installations (July: 139,245)
- Apple PassKit (Apple Pay and Wallet): 121,177 installations (July: 121,650)
- Razorpay: 115,858 installations (July: 114,059)
- Card.io: 52,056 installations (July: 53,109)
- Braintree: 44,617 installations (July: 45,910)
- PayPal: 36,597 installations (July: 37,723)
- Alipay: 35,228 installations (July: 35,789)
- Google Play License Verification Library: 35,087 installations (July: 35,170)
Final Thoughts
Overall, August wasn’t too kind to app monetization SDKs. Among the top solutions, just AppLovin, ironSource, Pangle, TopOn, Soomla, ByteBrew, Stripe, and Razorpay had SDKs that increased their installs month-over-month.
